The Habanero pepper is originally from the Amazonas region of Peru but is widely grown in many South and Central American countries, as well as the southwestern United States. The habanero pepper ranges from 100,000 to 350,000 Scoville Units. It is nearly equivalent in heat to the scotch bonnet but not as fruity or sweet. The plant can be slow to mature, but once it does it can produce dozens of peppers on a 3-4 foot tall bush.

This variety is in the Capsicum chinense group, which includes the spiciest chillies out there - Scotch Bonnet, Bhut Jolokia, Scorpion pepper, and Carolina Reaper.
