Kakdi (South Asian Cucumber)
Seeds for this variety came to us from Karachi, Pakistan. They are best eaten when still very young and tender. If you leave them on the vine they will continue to grow longer but their fresh, slightly sweet taste will dilute as they grow.
This vegetable was an absolute favorite of my Nani’s. She would have a few slices with dinner every night in the summer, sprinkled with a little salt. After growing all of her childhood vegetables on my farm last year, it turned out the humble kakdi ruled above them all.
